The Chai is a spacious, single storey barn conversion at the rear of the main buildings. Formerly the wine making barn, it is now a stylish and comfortable holiday home. Large French windows open onto a beautiful terrace overlooking the gardens, fields and the woods beyond.
A path through the gardens leads you from the car park to the Chai. Inside there is a large living room, with seating round the fireplace at one end and a well equipped kitchen at the other end.
There are two bedrooms, separated by a well-appointed shower room. One has a double bed, the other has two single beds.
The terrace is set up for outside living, with dining table and barbeque. Open the little gate at the end for access to the wider grounds. Follow the Apple Walk down to the stream, where you’ll find a haven of rural peace, lulled by the backdrop of the water tumbling over the little waterfall.
You will find a good range of equipment including
refrigerator and separate freezer
a dishwasher, an electric hob and oven/grill, a microwave
coffee maker, kettle, and toaster
Teatowels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, and cleaning materials
Guest laundry nearby, with washing machine
Stairs to first floor
The Chai benefits from underfloor heating in the colder months. The woodburner in the living room is available for use throughout the year. We keep the log box topped up with wood and kindling for your use.
Heating is included in the holiday price. It’s a great place for a winter stay.
Le Clos du Verger is unusual because its set-up covers its heating and energy costs.
Ground source heat from two kilometers of pipes laid under the goat meadows gives an efficient and constant hot water supply, as well as fuelling the underfloor heating and the radiators.
Rooftop photovoltaic panels generate the electricity we use.
One double bedroom with 150 cm wide double bed, and chests of drawers, wardrobe, and marble topped table.
One large twin bedded room bedroom ( 2 x 90 cm wide single beds), with clothes storage and marble topped table.
Between the two bedrooms is the shower room with large shower cubicle, double washbasin unit, WC. Towels, soaps and shampoo provided.
Winter heating by gentle underfloor heating, which can run at a different temperature from the living room.
Winter duvets are changed seasonally for summer weight silk duvets. Beds made up for your arrival.
A path from the car park leads through the gardens and under a rose arch to the private area around the Chai.
Outside the large terrace for your sole use overlooks a lawned garden. There is a dining table and chairs with comfortable seating, and a gas barbeque.
You are welcome to follow the walks through our land, past the meadows reserved for our little flock of goats, to the stream area where there is seating in different spots.
An informal ball games area is provided near the stream including a badminton net and racquets, and a swing ball. We ask for no ball games near the buildings.
Our welcome will be as genuine as usual, but please wear a mask when we show you round the property.
Before you arrive we will have thoroughly aired and cleaned the property, disinfected key areas, and replaced pillows, bedding and cushions between guests.
On your departure, please put used linen and towels in the laundry basket on the landing.
As an extra protection for us all we are restricting the total number of people at the Clos du Verger at any one time.
Please do not introduce anyone to the site who is not listed with us as part of your booking. We ask you to meet local friends or relatives elsewhere.
