Chez le Charpentier is a delightful cottage, taking pride of place in the side wing of the main buildings. Its charming garden gives you a beautiful space to relax outside.
French windows lead into a large living room with a kitchen at the far end. A typical cottage stair case takes you to the spacious first floor. Please check with us if you find stairs difficult as this staircase is a little steep.
Beyond the garden you have easy access to the small guest laundry and to your allocated parking space. We invite you to explore beyond the buildings to follow the Wild Walk down to the stream. Take a book and a glass of wine and be lulled by the sound of the little waterfall. Or if you are a little more energetic, try the informal ball games area. Our little herd of goats might be curious to say hello.
Ideal at any time of year, there is plenty of room for 3 people. The cottage is warm and cosy in winter. In Spring and Autumn the countryside is alive with colour. In the summer we move to a slower pace. The stone walls and shutters keep the interiors at a pleasant temperature, and we also provide room fans should you need them. The local swimming lake and beach is only 8 minutes’ drive away, set in a lovely country park. Our guests love it all.

Heating is included in the holiday price. It’s a great place for a winter stay.
Le Clos du Verger is unusual because its set-up covers its heating and energy costs.
Ground source heat from two kilometers of pipes laid under the goat meadows gives an efficient and constant hot water supply, as well as fuelling the underfloor heating and the radiators.
Rooftop photovoltaic panels generate the electricity we use.
We cut logs from our own trees, and keep the cottage log box topped up so that you can enjoy the woodburner in the living room when you want to.
